Abstract

There are few studies on the microstructure formation mechanism and microstructure evolution of selective laser melting (SLM) of pure Zn. In this study, the process parameters of SLM pure Zn were optimized first, and the effect of process parameters on its mechanical properties was explored. With the increase of laser energy density, the strength and ductility of the SLM Zn were improved. The formation mechanism and evolution law of SLM Zn were also explored. The microstructure of SLM pure Zn was equiaxed grains and lamellar structure. The formation of equiaxed grains was due to the low temperature gradient and high scanning speed of SLM pure Zn, which is finally located in the E area of the CET transition. This paper mainly clarifies the microstructure formation mechanism and evolution law of selective laser melting of pure Zn, and provides theoretical bases for the application of SLM pure Zn in medical implants.
