• A dual-system method for gravity balancing and six-axis force measurement is proposed. • Load fluctuation of the balancing system is 0.0065% at 20 kN full load. • Maximum nonlinear error of dual-system six-axis force measurement: 1.98% • Dual-system error difference from the original system is <0.23%FS. • The method applies to large/full-scale aircraft wind tunnel tests.
