The expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Internet of Everything (IoE) has revolutionized the way we connect and interact with technology, introducing unprecedented convenience and functionality. However, adopting this also exposes significant vulnerabilities, as traditional authentication methods like AES and Triple-DES often incur high computational overhead and struggle to adapt to the diverse array of devices within IoT and IoE environments. This paper introduces the Network Efficient Hierarchical Authentication - NEHA Algorithm, a novel encryption method designed to address these challenges by offering a robust, efficient, and scalable solution for secure communication. The algorithm outperforms traditional encryption algorithms by excelling in scalability, handling large datasets efficiently through its hierarchical encryption framework. Its dynamic key derivation method, based on device-specific MAC addresses, ensures adaptability to a wide range of devices and environments. The algorithm's unique 140-bit encryption format secures high-volume data transfers without compromising performance. By dividing data into 42-bit blocks, it optimizes the encryption process, offering faster, more efficient data protection than conventional approaches. Adding to that is the advanced block reordering techniques and circular right shift operations further enhance security while minimizing computational overhead, making the proposed algorithm ideal for resource-constrained IoT environments. Our research demonstrates that NEHA provides higher efficiency, lower latency, and better resource utilization compared to AES, Triple-DES, and similar algorithms, making it a superior choice for the evolving demands of IoT and IoE networks. By integrating innovative encryption techniques with seamless compatibility across existing systems, NEHA offers a future-proof, scalable solution that meets the stringent security requirements of modern network environments.
