Thriving in the ever-changing business landscape necessitates possessing a unique competitive advantage. Knowledge workers (KWs) in the modern knowledge economy form that invaluable and inimitable resource for navigating today’s global business environment. However, effectively leading the KWs is a formidable challenge because of the inherent difficulty in observing and regulating the tacit component of knowledge, which is the most crucial instrument for work. Hence, leaders in the era of KWs must redefine their leadership strategies to align with the current demands. The study argues that positive leadership is an effective leadership style for traversing the constantly evolving knowledge economy. The study critically analyses 35 articles using a 4-step structured review protocol. The articles were extracted from the Web of Science database, ranging from 2008 to 2025. This literature review synthesizes the positive leadership literature and positions it as an effective leadership strategy for the new knowledge economy. A conceptual map of the nomological network is presented, outlining antecedents, decisions, outcomes, mediators, and moderators. The study makes a novel attempt to critically review the dynamics of positive leadership for KWs at micro level. We conclude by reflecting on relevance and status of positive leadership in the context of KWs, drawing attention to the significant voids in the current literature and offer intriguing directions for future research.
