• Propylamine (PN) demonstrated as a new co-intercalated solvent for graphite in SIBs. • PN-based electrolyte shows lower polarization and enhanced low-temperature performance compared to 2G. • Stable Na+-PN solvation complexes with ≈3–4 PN molecules per Na+ are confirmed. • Graphite expansion is significantly reduced (114%) in pure PN electrolyte.
