摘要

En 中文
This article reviews developments at the confluence of two transformational technologies, namely, the fifth generation of wireless communication systems (5G) and machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence. Although the evolutionary parts of 5G have made significant progress, the fundamental solutions to ultrareliable and low-latency communication (URLLC), one of the major tenets of 5G, are yet to be fully prepared. Breakthroughs in ML, especially deep learning, have transformed many aspects of our lives from face recognition and medical diagnosis to natural language processing. The progress in ML techniques has been made possible by the accessibility to more data and computing power in recent years. However, classical ML relies heavily on the availability of significant memory and computing power for it to function properly.
