Abstract

• The study investigated cross-modal and combined effects of indoor environment perception. • Basic sensory ratings were independent, but cross-modal effects altered comfort. • Temperature exerted the strongest per-unit-sensation effect on overall comfort. • Subjective comfort models revealed non-linear interactions missed by IEQ models. • Combined discomforts created ceiling effects, not simple additive decline in overall comfort.
