• sHSPs are ATP-independent proteins that prevent aggregation and maintain proteostasis. • It has tripartite structure containing N-, α-crystallin and C-terminal domains. • Plant sHSPs are categorized into 11 classes based on their organelle localization. • Protect plants from heat, drought, salinity, metals and pathogens. • Helps in stress management, seed and fruit development.
