• A new Zn-MOF was synthesized and fabricated into a fluorescent 1@PMMA membrane. • 1@PMMA showed sensitive and selective sensing of DCN, Fe3+, and Cr2O72− in water. • The fluorescence quenching mechanisms toward the three analytes were investigated. • A smartphone-assisted platform enabled visual and on-site quantitative analysis.
