• FTIR analysis determined different composition of encapsulant and backsheet which needs different solvents from its removal. • Multistage selective solvent processing using NMP and Toluene effectively separates polymers encapsulant while preserving metal integrity and enhanced metal recovery. • Both used solvents can be regenerated and reuse, which is noteworthy from process economic perspective.
