Abstract

• A surrogate-assisted BO framework is developed for high-dimensional FE model updating under a limited evaluation budget. • Sparse initialization and coordinate-wise ECI search are combined to improve robustness and scalability in high-dimensional expensive optimization problems. • A clustering-based Jaya optimizer is integrated to enhance the stability of one-dimensional acquisition maximization. • Numerical benchmarks and laboratory experiments demonstrate improved accuracy and robustness, especially for challenging multi-small-damage cases.
