• The synergistic effect of dissolved CO2 and 2-ethoxyethanol reduces interfacial tension. • Optimal solvent concentration (15 vol%) significantly enhances oil swelling up to 33 %. • Surface wettability of composite (calcite–dolomite–quartz) alters from oil-wet to water-wet. • Moderate salinity (10,000–15,000 ppm) promotes interfacial properties. • The combined CO2–2-ethoxyethanol system shows strong potential for chemical water flooding.
