A novel approach to the synthesis of 2-acylpyrroles and 5,6-dihydro-4H-furo[3,4-c]pyrrol-4-ones through silver/base promoted tandem reactions of intramolecular hydroalkylation and oxidation of propargylamines has been developed successfully. The strategy has the advantages of one-pot synthesis, easily available raw materials, good atomic economy, wide functional group tolerance, and excellent regioselectivity. Moreover, this method can also be used to construct 2-acylfuran, further expanding its applicability.
