The synthesis of gamma-graphyne, a planar carbon allotrope, has been a long-standing challenge in organic synthesis. In this issue of Chem, Wu and co-workers report an efficient synthesis of a molecular nano gamma-graphyne, which provides remarkable insight into the aromaticity of the sp-sp(2) -hybridized carbon network.
