• A variety of rare genetic disorders can cause psychosis and/or dementia. • This scoping review sought to characterize the spectrum of genetic disorders that plausibly confer risk for both psychosis and new-onset cognitive impairment/decline, simultaneously. • Fifty-two genetic disorders/genetic disorder categories corresponding to 90 genes/variants were identified. • The results of this review offer a diagnostic framework with which to approach patients exhibiting both psychosis and emergent cognitive difficulties and additionally provide a foundation for the completion of disease-specific systematic reviews in the future.
