Abstract

• We present a work-based topology optimization for mixed transients (prescribed traction + loading rate), using trapezoidal external work as a unified objective. • Adjoint sensitivities are derived via differentiate-then-discretize and implemented with both implicit HHT- α and explicit central-difference integration. • Numerical results show clear duration effects: long loads yield static-like layouts, whereas short pulses produce inertia-dominated, load-mode-dependent topologies with material concentrating near the load; optimization converges robustly.
