Hybrid rice plays a crucial role in global food security by harnessing heterosis to enhance grain yield. Although hybrid rice typically provides a 25–30% yield advantage over elite checks under favorable conditions, the physiological mechanism through which hybrid vigor translates into yield advantage remains poorly understood. This study aimed to identify the physiological and agronomic determinants of heterosis expression in two-line (TGMS-based) and three-line (A/CMS, B, and R-line-based) hybrid rice systems across four contrasting field environments.
