• A novel honeycomb configuration with bidirectional re-entrant connections is proposed. • The designed sandwich cylindrical shell exhibits excellent underwater vibro-acoustic performance. • The effect of hydrostatic pressure on vibration isolation and sound insulation performance is discussed.
