• VAWT wake reshapes aerodynamic loads on downstream PTC arrays. • Front-row load concentration on PTCs is significantly weakened. • Peak drag coefficient in the first row reduces by up to 14.1%. • TKE-contour analysis reveals enhanced inter-row momentum exchange.
