ZnIn2S4/phosphotungstate photocatalytic materials for enhanced photocatalytic performance under visible light

Abstract

ZnIn2S4/PW12M (M=NH4, K) photocatalytic materials were constructed by encapsulating ZnIn2S4 nanosheets onto the surface of phosphotungstate for the removal of oxytetracycline hydrochloride (OTCH). Under visible light irradiation, ZK50 achieved degradation rates of 86.2% for OTCH within 30 min. A thorough examination of the photocatalytic mechanism has revealed that superoxide radicals (& sdot;O-2(-)) and holes (h(VB)(+)) function as the primary active species in the photocatalytic degradation of OTCH. The formation of a Z-type heterojunction between ZnIn2S4 and PW12K has been demonstrated to promote efficient charge-hole separation, thereby enhancing the photocatalytic performance of the system. This work presents a novel approach for developing photocatalytic technologies to remove environmental liquid-phase pollutants.
