To enhance the flexibility of mode division multiplexing systems, we have proposed and successfully demonstrated a 1x2 mode splitter based on asymmetric multimode interference coupler formed by polymer waveguide platform. The optimized mode splitter can effectively separate the E-11 and E-21 modes without changing the mode order. The experimental results show that the proposed device exhibits low insertion loss (< 11.62 dB) and crosstalk ( <-10.7 dB) over a broad bandwidth (1530 nm-1625 nm). The proposed mode splitter has potential applications in improving the integration and communication capability of mode division multiplexing systems.
