The aim of this review is to inform the orthodontist about the relationship between postural alterations in children, the stomatognathic system and occlusion. The five most important postural receptors are: visual, foot, vestibular, skin, spinal input and TMJ. If there is no balance, postural alterations occur, which will be evidenced in the position of the head, stomatognathic system, shoulder position, spine, shoulder girdle and pelvic girdle, legs and feet. They also affect other systems such as breathing, swallowing, muscle tone, among others. These alterations are descending or ascending and produce disorders that, if not treated in time, will evolve to more complex treatments.
