Abstract

• Evaluating nail API diffusion is essential for antifungal development but hindered by costly or inaccessible models. • A novel 3D-printed cell and bovine hoof model was developed to assess API diffusion. • Formulations were tested over 7 days in the 3D-printed system. • The amount of drug recovered in the hoof slices increased between day 2 and day 7, demonstrating the model’s ability to describe diffusion kinetics.
