Solid-state linear transformer drivers (SSLTDs) have emerged as a promising solution for generating high-repetition-rate, long-lifetime, highly reliable, and compact pulsed power outputs for high-power microwave (HPM). However, their development is often limited by the high-voltage isolation requirements and structural complexity of conventional bricks. To address these challenges, this article proposes a novel bipolar-charged Blumlein pulse generation module (BC-BPGM) as the brick for SSLTD systems. The proposed BC-BPGM employs a common-ground bipolar-charged stacked-Blumlein configuration, which eliminates the need for high-voltage charging-port isolation and effectively equalizes the insulation stress among semiconductor switch drivers, thereby simplifying the overall insulation design and improving module compactness. A prototype BC-BPGM capable of producing 15-kV nanosecond pulses was developed, and based on this module, a 45-stage compact solid-state linear transformer driver (CSSLTD) was constructed. The magnetic core design and internal insulation configuration were optimized to ensure reliable operation under high-voltage and high-repetition-rate conditions. The experimental results demonstrate that at a charging voltage of 7.5 kV, the CSSLTD delivers a peak output voltage of 553 kV, a peak current of 6.13 kA, and a peak power of 3.4 GW, with a current rise time of 17.6 ns and a full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 71.6 ns. The system operates stably at 50 Hz with an overall energy efficiency of 83.2%, achieving one of the highest power densities reported for SSLTDs.
