• The study compares the spatial variability and determinants of the Vulnerable Road User (VRU) fatalities. • In the study, the spatial orientation for cyclist fatality is random, while for pedestrians & MTW riders, it is clustered. • The predictor variables of cyclists' fatality differ from those of pedestrian and MTW rider fatalities. • The impact of bus stops is greater on cyclists as compared to pedestrians and MTW riders. • Studies disaggregated by road user type are recommended for targeted interventions to improve road safety.
