• A comprehensive fractal dimension calculation model of multi-scale pore is established based on probability density function. • The model overcomes the scale bias introduced by the dominant weight of pore volume or pore SSA in traditional models. • The model provides a reasonable choice for truly characterizing multi-scale complex pore structures.
