• A power optimization model is proposed to optimize the active and reactive power injections of DFIG units during the fault. • A coordinated control strategy for DFIG-based WFs is proposed, where all the frequency and voltage stability are considered. • An accurate approach to evaluate the capability curve of DFIG units and WF under various grid fault conditions is proposed.
