Abstract

In the complex product workshop’s production process, the occurrence of abnormal events often leads to production interruption. Aiming at the long workshop makespan and job tardiness caused by the production interruption, this paper presents a digital twin optimization method. The complex product workshop scheduling digital twin architecture as well as procedure is designed, interpreting the complex product workshop scheduling with abnormal events in detail from two stages, pre-production and in-production. The virtual complex product workshop digital twin model is constructed, including the abnormal events prediction model, workshop scheduling model with abnormal events, and scheduling scheme decision-making model. This method is applied to a bogie production workshop for verification. The results show that the workshop’s makespan and total tardiness by the digital twin method are shorter than the traditional method, which shows the method’s effectiveness in complex product workshop scheduling, providing a new route to reduce the abnormal events impact on complex product workshop production.
