Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
An improved phase field model for ductile fracture is developed, incorporating volumetric elastic strain energy as the crack-driving force and linking the degradation of energy release rate to plastic strain accumulation. Numerical simulations were performed on three representative benchmark cases: asymmetric notched specimens, Sandia specimens, and round-bar specimens. The simulations show that the crack initiation and propagation trajectories are well captured by the proposed model, in close agreement with experimental observations, thereby validating its applicability and effectiveness. Moreover, the crack pattern remains unaffected by the degradation model parameters, including the equivalent plastic strain threshold and the exponent of the energy release rate degradation function, further confirming the model's robustness in representing the coupled behaviour of plastic deformation and fracture in ductile materials.
