• Cy7-TCF-SPy enables selective NIR detection of Cys and Hcy. • Turn-on emission at 774 nm with large 104 nm Stokes shift. • High sensitivity: LOD 95 nM (Cys) and 67 nM (Hcy). • Low cytotoxicity supports imaging in A549 cells. • Applied to cysteine detection in real food samples.
