A Dynamic Inductive Power Transfer System

Abstract

This study is done in the area of in-motion inductive power transfer systems, commonly known as dynamic wireless power transfer, with application for charging electric vehicles' batteries. First, a co-simulation module of the overall system is developed, which integrates the finite element analysis model of magnetically coupled coils with models of the power electronics and other required external circuitry subsystems for wireless charging. The coils model is designed using the ANSYS Maxwell (TM) software and the system co-simulation is performed in ANSYS Simplorer (TM). Second, the dynamic inductive power transfer system is experimentally investigated on a scaled-down testbed using dSPACE DS1104 controller board.
