• Based on the principle of acoustic Fabry-Pérot interference, a resonant sound detector with a cardioid directional polar pattern is proposed, and its theoretical model and characteristic equation are established. The detector consists of an acoustic waveguide and an electret condenser microphone, with the microphone head inserted into the waveguide. • By adjusting the length of the acoustic waveguide, the detector’s resonant frequency can be easily tuned to match the target acoustic signal, thereby achieving signal amplification and noise suppression. • A cross-shaped array of resonant acoustic detectors was easily fabricated, and its remarkable capability for long-distance sound source localization has been fully validated through both simulation and experiments.
