Abstract

. This article provides a numerical study on the inverse scattering problem of reconstructing the three-dimensional obstacle from the scattered field measurements. We present a unified algorithmic framework for treating the nonlinear and ill-posed inverse problems governed by time-harmonic acoustic and elastic waves. Combining the layer potential theory and the linearization strategy, we establish and investigate the 3D implementation of a surrogate-model-free iterative method. Numerical experiments for both acoustic and elastic waves are conducted to test the performance of the proposed method.
