Abstract

• A reliability-oriented framework for Lyapunov-spectrum assessment is proposed. • Full-spectrum error, trace/divergence consistency error, and determinant-consistency error are used as reliability metrics. • Lyapunov-spectrum methods are classified as reliable, conditionally reliable, or diagnostic-only. • Largest-exponent agreement is shown to be insufficient for reliable full-spectrum reconstruction. • Method- and model-dependent uncertainties are identified in nonlinear beam diagnostics.
