A high-performance agaric-hydrogel evaporator for clean water production and sewage treatment applications

Abstract

In response to the problems encountered in clean water production and environmental restoration, this paper designed a multifunctional interfacial evaporation device. The evaporator was constructed by integrating a carbon quantum dot-bismuth oxybromide (CQD/BiOBr-E) supporting layer with an agaric-hydrogel photothermal conversion layer. Thanks to its excellent non-wetting property (CA = 158.3°), the floating layer can selectively remove oil. Importantly, the degradation of water-soluble pollutants has been achieved. Even after 10 degradation cycles, the degradation efficiency can still reach 92.6%, showing that CQD/BiOBr-E has excellent long-term degradation stability. The active species capture experiment demonstrated that ·O2− and h+ are the main active species. With the agaric-hydrogel as the photothermal layer, the assembled interfacial evaporator reached an evaporation rate of 1.52 kg m−2 h−1. This multifunctional interfacial evaporator is designed to provide solutions for environmental pollution and water shortage problems.
