Abstract

• The paper introduces a potential theory-based method for elliptic boundary value and interface problems on curved surfaces. • Potential functions are interpreted as solutions to simpler interface problems, solved with a finite difference method. • Correction terms are derived by solving local problems and are added to the finite difference scheme near the interface to retain second-order convergence. • Fast algorithms, including GMRES and the geometric multigrid method, are employed to solve linear systems, achieving nearly optimal computational complexity.
