Selecting the temperature of each vessel in a multi-effect evaporator process is typically a trial-and-error procedure because a practical design specifies that the heat-transfer areas are the same in each vessel. A method for directly calculating the stage temperatures is presented in this paper for any number of stages in the series. (c) 2021 Institution of Chemical Engineers. Published by Elsevier B.V.
