• A novel method is proposed to improve six-degree-of-freedom pose estimation. • The algorithm runs in real time using a single color image without fiducial markers. • A neural network with region-based color augmentation improves estimation accuracy. • The proposed mixed reality platform enables robust cross-device remote collaboration. • Experiments show significant improvements over baseline methods.
