In studies of mining subsidence it is essential to know the values of parameters used in simulation models, in order to reflect the real subsidence trough. The placing of topographic benchmarks in the area and the control of their movements provides the necessary data to determine or adjust these parameters. The computer program DHH handles information gathered from the control of benchmarks. The data obtained can be used to ascertain both the subsidence and horizontal deformation in the ground for each periodic traverse line, this being fundamental to determine the influence of the real subsidence trough on existing buildings in the area.
