Abstract

Ti3C2Tx MXene was synthesized by modifying the surfaces of a titanium aluminum carbide precursor (Ti3AlC2 MAX). Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was obtained through hydrothermal treatment. A Ti3C2Tx MXene and rGO composite (Ti3C2Tx@rGO) was synthesized through a hydrothermal process to form a three-dimensional (3D) conductive network. The Ti3C2Tx@rGO electrode achieves a specific capacitance (C-sc) of 520.13 F/g at 1 A/g and retains 91.56% of its initially measured C-sc value after a 10,000-cycle test at 10 A/g. A fabricated Ti3C2Tx@rGO symmetric supercapacitor (SSC) achieves 97.46 F/g at 1 A/g and preserves 78% of its capacity at 3 A/g with 92% cycling stability over a 5000-cycle test at 2 A/g. Additionally, it has an energy density (E), similar to 8 Wh/kg at a 1.2 kW/kg power density (P). As a cathode of a zinc/sodium (Zn/Na) hybrid battery (Zn/Na HB), it shows an initial C-sc value of 358 mAh/g and maintains 94.91% capacity over a 500-cycle test at 1 mA/g. These results highlight the effective Ti3C2Tx@rGO synergy, enabling fast ion transport, high stability, and excellent performance for next-generation supercapacitors and Zn/Na hybrid batteries.
