Abstract

Abstract

Multi-coset sampling (MCS) is a well-established sub-Nyquist sampling scheme for multi-band signals. However, its application is limited by the challenges of synchronization between branches and the difficulty for analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to handle wide range of analog bandwidths. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a modulated multi-coset sampling (MMCS) structure, along with a corresponding frequency estimation method. The proposed structure extends the delay unit through the optimized structural design, thereby significantly reducing inter-branch synchronization complexity. Additionally, this structure achieves spectral folding through analog modulation and low-pass filtering, reduces the requirement for ADC’s analog receive bandwidth. By extending the delay unit in branches and employing analog modulation, the proposed structure not only lowers the difficulty of sampling implementation but also significantly enhances the performance of frequency estimation–benefits from both the larger sampling interval and the better signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Numerical simulation results validate the feasibility of this method, demonstrating excellent performance in parameter estimation and hardware implementation.
