This brief presents design and development of a robust decentralized PID controller based on a weighted H infinity sensitivity function through a robust region tuning method for a multivariable system. H infinity criterion is adopted to find out the controller parameters of this robust decentralized PI controller to stabilize a closed-loop multi-variable system. To verify the efficacy of the proposed controller, its performance is compared with that of other decentralized PI controllers. Stability analysis of the proposed controller is also pursued by employing Kharitonov-Hurwitz theorem with a parametric perturbation of +/- 10%. The obtained results confirmed that the proposed controller exhibits superior control performance in the face of disturbance and parametric perturbation compared to other decentralized PI controllers.
