This study presents a closed-form fault location (FL) scheme for three-terminal transmission lines (TLs) with multiple nonhomogeneous segments, using unsynchronized measurements (UMs). The approach introduces the Faulty Branch Selector (FBS) and Fault Location Index (FLI) to identify the faulty branch, segment, and exact location without relying on synchronization angles, fault type, and fault-path/source impedance estimations. Field integration within Taiwan Power Company (Taipower)'s platform confirms the approach's practical feasibility, with both simulations and field data demonstrating its accuracy over Intelligent Electronic Device (IED)-based and existing methods.
