• A novel form-finding method for the cable-net structures is proposed. • The variable-length ANCF cable elements are adopted for accurate modeling. • Adaptive adjustments of lengths and positions are achieved by feedback control. • The convergence of form-finding is no longer sensitive to initial conditions. • Excellent performance for cable-net structures with complex shapes.
