• A new method using ApFFT and CNN-SE-BILSTM improves SAW RFID phase estimation accuracy, reducing error by 52%. • A CNN-BiLSTM model maps noisy SAW RFID echo signals to clean phase outputs. • The Sparrow search algorithm (SSA) was adopted to optimize the hyperparameters of CNN-SE-BILSTM model, and obtain a better model performance.
