A pre-nucleation strategy is developed to establish a seeding effectfor high-rate lithium-oxygen batteries without relying on catalysts.The seeding effect guides the surface-directed growth of Li(2)O(2 )along high-surface-energy facets, accelerating oxygen reductionkinetics and delivering high capacity and excellent rate capability.
