In this article, a series pulse multiplication circuit (SPMC) is proposed to increase the harmonic reduction ability of 12-pulse autotransformer rectifiers (12-PARs) and upgrade them to a 48-PAR for electric aircraft propulsion. The suggested solution has a dual auxiliary harmonic reduction circuit (DAHRC) and a single auxiliary harmonic reduction circuit (SAHRC), which are connected to the load in series. The SAHRC has a two-tapped interphase reactor with two inverse diodes. The DAHRC consists of an modified and coupled interphase reactor with a single-phase diode bridge rectifier and single-phase full-wave rectifier. To show the performance of the suggested SPMC, its operating modes along with the current and voltage of different parts are described. Also, to confirm the capability of the proposed SPMC for harmonic distortion reduction, the current waveform under different load conditions, along with the harmonic spectrum, is presented, considering MIL-STD-704F and DO-160F standard limits. Then, the rating, losses, efficiency, and cost estimation are also presented. The simulation results are verified by testing on a prototype. The results confirm the capability of the proposed SPMC to reduce input current harmonic distortion, as well as its low kVA rating (2.93% of the rated power) and negligible losses (0.35%), which lead to the achievement of a 48-PAR with a rating of 33.76% of the rated power and an efficiency of 98.61%.
