• A novel skeletal FEM framework is proposed for elliptic interface eigenvalue problems. • Comprehensive theoretical analysis and extensive numerical validation are presented. • The lower bound property is rigorously proved for straight interface configurations. • Optimal convergence rates are established and verified for curved interface cases.
