Abstract

The utilization of CO2 flooding technology results in formation of an acidic solution due to the dissolution of CO2 in water, leading to significant corrosion challenges. This study employs Design Expert software to conduct an orthogonal experiment using CO2 pressure, temperature, and salinity as independent variables and corrosion rate as the dependent variable through high-temperature autoclave testing. A corrosion rate model is established utilizing Response Surface Methodology. The key factors influencing corrosion and corrosion patterns are analyzed through ANOVA, response surface plots and contour lines. The findings indicate the high reliability of the model with the order of influence of the main factors being salinity> pressure> temperature and interactions observed between these factors. Furthermore, three samples exhibiting maximum, minimum, and intermediate corrosion rates are chosen for micro-morphology, surface roughness, and three-dimensional morphology. The results demonstrate that chloride ions are prone to cause pitting corrosion.
