• Meshfree 2D f-EFG is developed for spatial fractional-order PDEs. • MLS approximants provide accurate solutions over complex and irregular 2D domains. • Fractional-order nonlocal models resolve steep gradients at holes, captured here via 2D f-EFG. • 2D f-EFG is validated against benchmarks for linear and nonlinear nonlocal plate response. • 2D f-EFG achieves superior computational efficiency compared to FE solvers for FDEs.
